Since it first opened its doors in 2003, more than 100 top international chefs from all continents of the world have graced Restaurant Ikarus as part of its guest chef concept. And an equal number of delicious menus have been served up to guests at Hangar-7 since then. These have represented a wide range of cooking styles and philosophies, from classic French cuisine, to nouvelle cuisine, through to fusion and molecular cuisine.

The Culinary Highflyers app for iPad and iPhone passes on this knowledge to all hobby chefs wishing to sample the diversity of top international cuisine in their own home – and who are seeking an experience above and beyond the usual components of a cookbook. Because, within the app, Executive Chef Roland Trettl takes the user on a culinary journey around the world, visiting the molecular cuisine avant-gardist Ryan Clift in his restaurant in Singapore, the three-star minimalist Pascal Barbot in Paris, and the nature based cuisine pioneer Peter Gilmore in Sydney, among many others.

Users can determine the travel route themselves on their iPad or iPhone. Under the keyword "Destinations", they can hop between continents or regions as they please – and explore the culinary secrets of the guest chefs home countries and restaurants. In addition, "tour guide" Roland Trettl presents various exotic ingredients and insider tips, such as a top ranking of the nicest squares and markets in the city where he happens to be. The app also offers detailed profiles of the guest chefs who have stopped off at Restaurant Ikarus in the past. And as a special feature, users can view all films from the ServusTV series "Spitzenköche im Ikarus" (Culinary Heights at Ikarus), which document in detail the journeys of Roland Trettl as well as the guest chefs visits to Salzburg.

But the basics of a cookbook app should, of course, not be forgotten: with the recipes to recreate at home, hobby chefs are offered the chance to test their own skills behind the stove. With the share function, favourite recipes can be shared easily in social networks such as Facebook or sent to friends by e-mail.

The Culinary Highflyers iPad and iPhone app offers an exciting way to delve a little deeper into the world of top international cuisine and its many different dishes. Restaurant Ikaruss guest chef concept makes all this possible – a truly unique way to experience the rich diversity of haute cuisine.
